About Adam Blackburn
Adam Blackburn is a practicing visual artist from the United Kingdom, currently situated in the Midlands. His research field examines the creative process behind his practice. His current projects include an investigation into the 'theme' or 'practice' of Improvisation and the role of external influences in the creative process.
Since 2006 he has made constructions, drawings and paintings that explore and express the different properties of paint. His works (predominantly abstract in style) result from an improvised process that feeds off an engagement with the medium, existing of a cease of control and encouraged freedom of the medium and the physical techniques employed.
He presents his research in the form of stand alone projects, collaborations, papers and exhibitions. Blackburn is currently studying at Aberystwyth University for his PhD in Fine Art.
Adam Blackburn's work openly embraces a preoccupation with a love of the language of paint and the physical act of painting through research, experimentation and development of the medium.
