About Adam Blackburn
Adam Blackburn is a practicing visual artist from the United Kingdom, currently situated in the Midlands. His research interests examine the creative process behind his practice, with his current projects examining the themes of improvisation in painting.
Since 2006 he has made constructions, drawings and paintings that explore and express the different properties and identities of the mediums at hand. Predominantly abstract in style, his work is the product of a deeply spontaneous and improvised process.
Since 2014, Adam has spent much of his time working between the UK and China, where he teaches as an International Visiting Lecturer at a provincial university. He has a number of research projects ongoing as part of his Phd candidature, and holds other teaching and educational positions within the UK.
He presents his research in the form of stand alone projects, collaborations, papers and exhibitions. Adam is currently studying at Aberystwyth University for his PhD in Fine Art.
