I am exhibiting in the Aberystwyth School of Art Masters Exhibition commencing the 21st May 2011 lasting for a few weeks. I will be exhibiting alongside other masters students in the downstairs galleries of the School of Art. I will be displaying a number of pieces in a range of scales and medium from my latest project. The following sentences are an extract from the catalogue statement;
My work uses abstraction as an expression of subjective experience offering responses to the world around us and reflections of life and of existing. The pieces share a close relationship with the ‘landscape’, something I hold great empathy with acting as a footing for experience and feeling. Through the language of paint and the physical act of painting my work acts as an excavation into my subconscious retrieving experiences and memories often vague and hazy. Through the process of painting, responsive and often improvised, the pieces result in meaning and feeling that exist far outside the painting themselves, appealing directly to a viewers emotions, leaving them free to interpret and to imagine.
